The TransSteel 4000 PULSE welding power source is a three-phase device designed for MIG/MAG (400A at 40% duty cycle) and MMA welding. Known for its robust construction and high reliability, this welder is equipped with an intuitive control panel, typical of Fronius welding sources.
The machine features an integrated wire feeder with a four-roller system for stable wire feeding and weighs 32.5 kg. The control panel of TransSteel 4000 PULSE can be locked using a key switch or a combination of buttons to prevent unintentional changes to welding parameters.
Modes and settings
The TransSteel 4000 PULSE offers both manual and synergic setting modes. In manual mode, users can adjust parameters such as material type and thickness, electrode/wire diameter, shielding gas type, amperage, wire feed speed, arc length, and dynamics. In synergic mode, the machine automatically selects parameters, simplifying operation. Users can save up to five programs (EasyJob) for quick access via the control panel. Depending on the model, up to 116 synergic lines are available.
Welding arc adjustments
The machine allows users to set the "arc length correction" and "dynamics" parameters. The arc length correction sets the welding arc length, while the dynamics adjustment provides a hard, stable arc or a softer arc with more spatter. These adjustments enable precise control over the welding process.
Advanced MIG/MAG functions
The TransSteel 4000 PULSE supports MIG/MAG welding with features like:
- 2-tact
- 4-tact
- special 4-tact
- spot welding
- multi-seam welding in 2-tact and 4-tact modes.
The 2-tact mode is ideal for tacking and short welds, while the special 4-tact mode is suited for high-power welding, offering a stabilized arc with lower initial power. Spot welding is used for lap joints accessible from one side, and multi-seam welding is beneficial for thin sheets, keeping the weld pool from cooling during pauses.
Pulse function and SynchroPuls
The Pulse function increases welding speed for thicker materials, reducing the need for touch-ups and minimizing spatter. The SynchroPuls function is recommended for welding aluminum alloys, providing a scalloped weld bead effect by alternating between two power levels. This function operates in Standard Synergic and PulseSynergic modes. PCS (PulseControlled Spray Arc) characteristics combine a transition arc with a spray arc, ensuring deep penetration with minimal spatter.
MMA welding capabilities
For MMA welding, the TransSteel 4000 PULSE offers:
- Arc dynamics
- Hot start
- Anti-stick
Adjusting the dynamics parameter provides either a soft, spatter-free arc or a hard, stable arc. The hot start function improves arc ignition, better base material melting, fewer cold spots, and prevents slag inclusion. The Anti-stick function reduces welding current during short circuits, making it easier to detach the electrode and preventing damage to the holder.
Data documentation
The TransSteel 4000 PULSE includes a data documentation function, essential for steel construction projects. The EasyDocumentation option allows simple recording of welding data. A USB port on the back of the device enables the export of CSV files with welding data.
