Semi-automatic welding machine SERVIMIG 220 MP+ XL

The inverter power source SERVIMIG 220 MP+ XL by Serwitech is designed for MMA, MIG/MAG, and TIG DC welding methods. The semi-automatic welder allows operation with a maximum current of 200A at a 35% duty cycle for all welding methods. The machine is manufactured in Italy and operates on a single-phase 230V power supply. It features a 2-roll feeding mechanism that ensures stable wire feeding and a clear 3.3” LCD display, making the device exceptionally easy to operate. Modern PFC (Power Factor Correction) technology guarantees optimal energy consumption and power factor control, leading to lower operating costs.

The Servitech semi-automatic welder allows the use of large 15 kg wire spools, reducing the frequent need for spool changes and minimizing downtime during operation. It is an excellent solution for welding stainless steel, carbon steel, and soldered (galvanized) sheets, as well as aluminum. Additionally, it includes a polarity change function, allowing for gasless welding. The SERVIMIG 220 MP+ XL also comes with 20 pre-set synergic lines tailored for specific types of welding wires, including synergic lines for magnesium and silicon wires with diameters of 0.8-1.2 mm. Its lightweight (27.4 kg), compact dimensions (500mm x 280mm x 420mm), and compatibility with a 12 kVA generator make this inverter highly suitable for fieldwork, installations, and finishing tasks.

In addition to the ability to use large 15 kg wire spools, distinguishing features of the device from the standard SERVIMIG 220 MP include the pulse welding function in both 2-tact and 4-tact modes, and the option to connect any TIG torch thanks to the included TIG control plug.

MMA welding mode in SERVIMIG 220 MP+ XL

In MMA (Manual Metal Arc) welding mode, the user has access to the Hot Start function (HOT START M2), which can be adjusted from 0-50%. This function aids in initiating the arc at the beginning of the welding process. Additionally, in shielded metal arc welding, the AntiStick function can be set, which reduces the current when the electrode shorts, making it easier to detach from the material. The MMA mode also allows for the adjustment of the welding current (M1) within the range of 5A-200A and supports the use of both basic and rutile electrodes.  

TIG welding with SERVIMIG 220 MP+ XL

The SERVIMIG 220 MP+ allows for TIG welding with direct current (DC). The arc initiation in this case is done by touching the material (known as TIG Lift). The machine includes a TIG control plug, which enables the use of any TIG torch without a valve. This setup provides better control over the TIG Lift arc initiation, as the solenoid valve is located inside the machine, and gas flow control during arc initiation is managed by a button on the torch. The welder also supports pulse welding in 2-tact and 4-tact modes, with a frequency range of 1-250 Hz. Users can also adjust the Hot Start time and Post Gas time, as well as use the crater fill function available in 4-tact mode. The SLOPE adjustment allows for a smooth reduction of the arc at the end of the welding process.

MIG/MAG welding with SERVIMIG 220 MP+ XL

In MIG/MAG mode, the user can choose from 20 synergic programs, including those for welding carbon steel with carbon dioxide (CO2) or mixed gases M21 (Ar/CO2). There are also synergic lines for processes like flux-cored welding, stainless steel, and aluminum welding. The LCD display in the main menu allows for viewing the welding mode (M1) and the selected synergic line (M2). The left knob adjusts the arc length and wire feed speed (M3), while the right knob adjusts the material thickness (M4).

It is possible to disable the synergic mode and operate in manual mode, where the user can adjust the inductance parameter (M5) using the MATERIAL button. Inductance configuration controls the rate of liquid metal transfer to the weld pool and affects the form of the resulting arc (hard or soft). Adjusting this parameter impacts the comfort of the welder and the quality of the weld.

Pressing the SETUP button in MIG/MAG welding mode allows for additional function adjustments in both manual and synergic modes (SYNERGY ON/OFF):

• 2T/4T/SPOT (S1): Set the 2-takt, 4-takt, and spot welding modes (SPOT TIME – spot time).
• SLOPE UP (S2): Set the wire feed delay time from 0 to 1.5s.
• BBT – BurnBack Time (S3): Configure the length of the wire stick-out after welding.
• IND (S4): Adjust inductance according to the material thickness – affects the amount of spatter (Low value = more spatter, high value = less spatter).
• POST GAS (S5): Set the post-welding gas flow time from 0 to 5s.
• HOT START (S6): Set the duration of the hot start and the current reduction time in 2-takt mode.
• HOT START / CRATER FILLER (S7): Adjust the hot start duration, current reduction time, and crater fill in 4-tact mode.
