SERVIMIG 220 MP+ is an inverter MIG welder, manufactured in Italy by Servitech. The device is designed for welding using MMA (allowing operation at 120A in a 100% duty cycle and 200A in a 35% duty cycle), TIG DC (120A in a 100% duty cycle and 200A in a 35% duty cycle), as well as MIG/MAG (140A in a 100% duty cycle and 200A in a 35% duty cycle). The machine is powered from a single-phase 230V network and features modern PFC (Power Factor Correction) technology, ensuring control of the power factor, optimal energy consumption, and lower operating costs. The welder is also equipped with a clear 3.3” LCD display and a 2-roll wire feeder, which ensures stable wire feeding.
SERVIMIG 220 MP+ enables welding with wires on spools of 1kg (100mm) and 5kg (200mm) and comes with 20 preloaded synergic lines, dedicated to specific types of welding wires, including synergic lines for magnesium and silicon wires with diameters of 0.8-1.2 mm. The welder performs excellently for welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and for luting (galvanized sheets), as well as for small-batch production of carbon and stainless steel products. The device is also a great solution for aluminum welding and can be used with a 12kVA generator. The welder’s lightweight (21kg) and compact dimensions (500mm x 280mm x 420mm) make it ideal for fieldwork, installation, and finishing tasks. The machine features a polarity change option, which allows for self-shielded flux-cored wire welding (also known as gasless welding).
A distinguishing feature of this device compared to the standard SERVIMIG 210 MP is the ability to perform pulsed current welding in 2-tact and 4-tact modes, as well as the inclusion of a TIG control plug, allowing for the connection of any TIG torch.
On the main panel of the device, it is possible to set the appropriate parameters and functions for each welding method:
1 – Mode Selection: MIG/MAG, MMA, TIG LIFT
2 – LCD Display
3 – Control Button Settings Menu
4 – Saving and Retrieving (up to 20 Programs)
5 – Welding Current Settings
6 – Material Selection (synergic mode) / Inductance Adjustment (manual mode)
7 – Parameter Adjustments: Hot Start (MMA), Current Slope (TIG), Wire Feed Speed / Arc Dynamics (MIG/MAG)
MMA mode
In the MMA (Manual Metal Arc) welding mode, the HOT START (M2) function can be set to assist in striking the arc at the beginning of the weld. The HOT START parameter is adjustable from 0-50%. Additionally, this mode features the AntiStick function, which lowers the current value in case of electrode stick, making it easier to detach the electrode from the workpiece. This mode also supports the use of rutile and basic electrodes and allows for current adjustment (M1) within the range of 5A-200A.
TIG mode
The SERVIMIG 220 MP+ welder enables DC TIG welding. In this mode, the arc is struck by touching the material (TIG Lift). Connecting the TIG control plug to the device allows for the use of any TIG torch without a valve. This setup facilitates better control over the TIG Lift arc ignition, as the gas flow is managed through a button on the torch instead of needing adjustment on a valve in the torch handle (the solenoid valve is located inside the machine). TIG welding is possible in both 2T and 4T modes, with pulsed current adjustable within the frequency range of 1-250 Hz. Users can also adjust the hot start time and post-gas flow (POST GAS), and in 4T mode, use the crater filling function. An additional feature is the current slope adjustment (SLOPE), which allows for a smooth reduction of the welding arc at the end of the weld by gently lifting the torch:
MIG/MAG mode
In MIG/MAG mode, there are 20 synergic programs available. These programs facilitate various welding tasks, including welding carbon steel with shielding gas such as carbon dioxide (CO2) or a gas mixture like M21 (Ar/CO2). Among the available synergic lines, there are programs for welding stainless steel and aluminum, as well as a synergic line dedicated to the brazing process. The LCD display on the main menu shows the welding mode (M1) and the selected synergic line (M2). The left knob adjusts the wire feed and arc length (M3), while the right knob sets the material thickness (M4).
Additionally, the device allows for disabling the synergic mode and activating manual welding mode. In manual mode, the inductance (M5) can be adjusted using the MATERIAL button. The primary function of the inductance parameter is to control the welding arc (hard arc/soft arc) by regulating the rate of transfer of molten metal to the weld pool. Changing the inductance impacts the welder’s comfort and the quality of the weld.
